Stefan Lienenkämper

  • Born in Meinerzhagen/Sauerland in 1963
  • Initial musical experiences as a contrabassist in gospel and jazz bands
  • Studies in philosophy
  • Studies in composition at the Hoge School voor de Kunsten in Utrecht with Henk Alkema
  • Collaborations among others with Garth Knox, Michael Riessler, Krassimir Sterev, Christiane Edinger, and Björn Lehmann, as well as the Sonar Quartett, the Hezarfen Ensemble Istanbul, the Spanish National Orchestra, and the den Brandenburger Symphoniker
  • Appearances at numerous international cultural festivals, among others the Festival de Música de Alicante, the Weimarer Frühjahrstagen für zeitgenössische Musik, and Intersonanzen Potsdam
  • Among other awards, 1st Prize at the Composition Competition of the Spanish National Orchestra Auditorio Nacional de Musica in 2010, and winner of the Gustav Mahler Composition Prize of the city of Klagenfurt in 2003 and 2009
  • 2016 and 2018: Spent five months in Istanbul on a scholarship from the Tarabya Cultural Academy
