Kanako Nakagawa-Bräkow

  • Musical and pianistic training at the Toho School of Music in Tokyo and at the Juilliard School of Music (Pre-College Division) in New York with Prof. Jane Carlson
  • Piano studies at the Royal College of Music with Prof. Yonty Solomon and song interpretation with Prof. Hartmut Höll and Prof. Mitsuko Shirai at the University of Music Karlsruhe
  • Numerous awards: “Gina Bachauer Memorial Prize,“ “Kendall Taylor Beethoven Prize,” scholarships from the Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg and the Kulturfond Baden, as well as 2nd prize and Schubert special prize for song duo at the international chamber music competition “Franz Schubert and Modern Music“ in Graz, Austria, and jointly with Herman Wallén, first prize at the “International Art Song Competition Stuttgart”
  • Solo concerts appearances as well as a song accompanist, including many radio and television productions, have taken this musician to the US, Japan, Korea, and a number of European countries
  • Participation in numerous festivals, including the Helsinki Festival, the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival, and the Rheingau Festival
  • 2006-2011: Musical director of the Berlin International Opera
  • Assistant at master classes, among others with Mitsuko Shirai, Roman Trekel, Tom Krause, and George Shirley
  • Since 2003 and 2004: teaching position as a song coach at the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin and the University of Music Karlsruhe
